Fenja Mattson, Au.D., CCC-A
Dr. Mattson grew up in Plantation, FL before attending Florida State University to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She then moved to Greenville, NC to pursue her master’s degree in Speech, Language & Auditory Pathology. In January 2004, she completed her Doctor of Audiology degree at Arizona School of Health Sciences before joining the JSHC Team in October 2004.
In 2015, Dr. Mattson received the Jacksonville Business Journal Health-Care Hero Award, which honors Northeast Florida professionals who improve health care and save lives, for her work treating veterans with hearing loss.
In addition, Dr. Mattson is the recipient of the 2023 Community Choice – Best of Bold City Award for “Best Audiologist.”
Dr. Mattson has also received additional training in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) for hyperacusis and tinnitus management at Towson University.
Fun Fact: Dr. Mattson is fluent in German.

Shakeika Everett, Au.D., CCC-A
Dr. Everett is a native of Waynesboro, MS. She attended the University of Mississippi where she received a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Afterwards, Dr. Everett attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she received a master’s degree in Deaf Education and Early Oral Intervention. She continued her graduate studies at USM and received her Doctor of Audiology degree in May 2021. While at Ole Miss, Dr. Everett studied American Sign Language as her foreign language, and it fueled her desire to help give everyone a voice. As she develops her career as an audiologist, she also hopes to pick back up on ASL and become fluent in the language.
In addition, Dr. Everett is the recipient of the 2024 Community Choice – Best of Bold City Award for “Best Audiologist.”
Fun Fact: In her spare time, Dr. Everett loves to read, color, and complete puzzles. She loves anything purple, and she loves to travel anywhere that has a beach!

Jasmine Simmons, Au.D., CCC-A
Dr. Simmons is from Columbus, Ohio and received her Doctorate of Audiology from Central Michigan University. She is a member of American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing (NBASLH). Dr. Simmons’s passion for audiology stems from both personal and clinical experiences. She was born with a bilateral profound sensorineural hearing loss and received her first cochlear implant at the age of two. When working with her patients she demonstrates empathy and patience by reflecting on her personal experiences. One of her ambitions is to give back to the community. She has done this by being a camp counselor for teens with hearing loss for the past eight years.
In February 2024, Dr. Simmons debuted her first children’s book, “Extraordinary Jordyn and her Bionic Ears,” which is an encouraging and uplifting story about a young elementary school girl who learns to overcome being judged for having a cochlear implant and a hearing aid.
Fun Fact: During her free time, Dr. Simmons enjoys traveling and relaxing with her cats.

Louis Valentine, Au.D., CCC-A, AIB-VRC
Dr. Valentine joined the JSHC Team in August 2024 after working in a private practice. Dr. Valentine also has experience OAE, hearing aids, tinnitus treatment, balance assessment, electrophysiological testing. He specializes in hearing rehabilitation with the geriatric patient population.
Dr. Valentine graduated with a B.S. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Kansas State University before receiving a Doctor of Audiology from Ball State University.
Fun Facts: He is a veteran of the United States Navy, has 3 daughters, semi-fluent in French, and enjoys studying Philosophy and Psychology.

Lead Audiology Technician: Ryan King
Ryan joined JSHC in August 2022 as Front Desk Coordinator. Prior to joining the JSHC team, Ryan worked as a Cosmetologist for 11 years. In those years she worked her way up from stylist to salon owner. She brings many years experience of team leadership and problem solving. Ryan is a Jacksonville native who attended Douglas Anderson School of the Arts as a vocal major.
Fun Facts: Before fully committing to the performing arts, she played soccer for 5 years. Current hobbies include taking her two dogs on trail walks around town and traveling any and everywhere she can.

Audiology Technician: Colin Forde
Colin joined the JSHC Team in March 2024 after working at Lowes Home Improvement and LOFT. Colin also has six years of experience in the Florida Army national Guard. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of North Florida and currently working on a Master’s Degree in Health Administration from the University of North Florida.
Fun Facts: Colin enjoys traveling with friends, taking care of his newly adopted dog, and going to the gym in his free time.

Office Manager – Audiology Department: Sydney Prinzi
Sydney joined JSHC in February 2020 as Front Desk Coordinator with previous customer service experience. She was promoted to Audiology Assistant in July 2020 after receiving extensive training in hearing aid repairs. After spending 3 years in this position, Sydney was promoted to Executive Assistant to the COO in May 2023. Sydney is a graduate of Sandalwood High School, where she was involved in band and the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFJROTC). Sydney is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Business Administration degree at FSCJ, expected to graduate in May 2025, with aspirations to use her education to contribute meaningfully to the organization.
Fun Facts: Sydney plays multiple instruments such as guitar, piano, and cello, in addition to singing.
