By making a planned gift to the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center (JSHC), you can make a lasting impact on our community by ensuring that all individuals are able to receive essential speech-language and audiology services for generations to come. There are various ways to designate JSHC as a beneficiary in your estate plan.

Ways to Make A Legacy Gift

Planned giving enables you to build a philanthropic legacy while minimizing your cost of giving, and maximizing the benefits to yourself & your family. With help from your financial advisor, you can choose the best way to make a gift that fulfills your personal, philanthropic, and financial goals.

Bequests:

One of the easiest ways to support the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center is through a bequest provision in your will.

Bequests can be specific (in which you give a specific dollar amount or percentage of your estate to JSHC), or residual (in which you designate a portion of your remaining estate to JSHC after all taxes, debts, and other expenses are paid). Bequests can include cash, real estate, personal property, investments, retirement plan assets, and life insurance.

Bequests are fully deductible for federal estate tax purposes.

Charitable Remainder Trusts:

A Charitable Remainder Trust can be established during your lifetime, or in your will, with cash, marketable securities, or real estate. Through a Charitable Remainder Trust, you can generate income for yourself, or other beneficiaries, while also designating the remainder of your donated assets to the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center.

Once established, a Charitable Remainder Trust can enable you to receive income for life, avoid capital gains or estate taxes, and receive a charitable income tax deduction.

Retirement Funds:

When a pension plan, 401(K), Keogh, or IRA is designated to an individual beneficiary, its value can be significantly reduced through income or estate taxes. In contrast, the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center is exempt from income tax, and qualifies for a full estate tax exemption due to its 501(c)3 status.

By naming the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center as beneficiary for the remainder of your retirement funds, you can ensure that all of your retirement assets will pass on to our organization free from tax.

Life Estate Gifts:

Through a life estate gift, you can make a gift of your home to the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center while retaining the right to live there during your lifetime, and enjoy the benefits you that currently receive from the property.

In addition to these benefits, you can receive a current tax deduction for your life estate.

Other Planned Gifts:

We appreciate your generosity in considering the Jacksonville Speech & Hearing Center as part of your estate planning. The acceptance of restricted gifts, personal property and closely held stocks will be determined on an individual basis.
